. don't call newterm() more than once; use setterm() and resizeterm() instead
  on subsequent calls. Newterm() would fail after a few calls, leading to vi
  exiting with a "ex/vi: error initializing terminal" message
. if tcsetattr() fails due to EINTR, ignore it
