indeed, developer email addresses are officially @NetBSD.org, not
@netbsd.org. source code is official, of sorts, and as such, addresses
should be written in the official way.

I think John should take it up with communication-exec if he really
insists, though I don't see the decision being overturned. the
changes are fine.
