While these changes may be correct, why use hard to translate Latin 
terms like "exempli gratia"?  

Please use "for example", "for instance", "such as", etc.  
(latter is intended as humor.)

Someday, I'll write up a PR to eradicate "i.e.", "e.g.", and other 
frequently misused latin phrases left over from scribbling days.
