what's to review for these things?  they're all basic makefiles
that build using the same pattern as all the others.

if these are wrong, then the whole setup is wrong.  also, none
of this is hooked into the build yet -- by design.


i've not commited the parts that *are* less clearly right, and
i did send those to you for review.
