Maybe instead of philosophical argumentation, you could actually look at
the GENERIC configuration files. Most of the things that are commented out
are not because of "brokenness" but either because these have a limited value
or because there is no "plug'n'play" or other type of autoconfiguration.

As usual, you managed to marvellously miss the point. The reason Linux does
this (right) is the amount of device drivers and other components that
exceed the ones in NetBSD by several factors.
