Thanks.  The dev-without-vfs configuration is fairly niche and I don't
think we even have in-tree uses for it, but it applies to at least
networking stack + drivers (which do not load a firmware image), so
as long as we can keep it going without a penalty, all the better --
and since there has been no such penalty since the beginning of Unix,
I don't expect one to pop up any time soon.
