Does acpi_bat also detect the other way around ?

I.e. when you have multiple batteries you can unplug a full charged
battery and then re-plug an empty one for charging.

When the battery is absent, the limit values don't make much difference!

But yes, the scenario you propose will work - nothing happens when the old (full) battery is removed, but when you insert a new (empty) one, the limits will get set based on the new battery, and its state will be monitored.
