fair enough, I switched to using the local IP for vnclisten, same
behavior.  I think I caught a flash of a title - 'Xen-openbsd' -
before the window closed.  'openbsd' is the name of the domU, so
maybe this is promising?

this must be the case - i just tried UltraVNC and it appears to
be working OK.
