Re: PV domU console not working?

"Aaron J. Grier" writes:

- /usr/pkg/etc/xen/milo has:

-       kernel = "/usr/pkg/lib/xen/boot/netbsd-INSTALL_XEN3_DOMU"
-       extra = "console=com1 com1=9600,8n1"

- among other things. (I also tried console=xencons0 with the same
- results.)

I've never tried setting "console=.." on the command line. And
it all starts up just fine.

My working configuration file:

        kernel = "/usr/pkg/etc/xen/kernels/i386/bob-the-builder"
        memory = 512
        name = "bob-the-builder"
        vif = [ 'mac=00:16:3e:00:00:11, bridge=bridge1' ]
        disk = [ 'phy:/dev/raid2d,0x1,w' ]
        extra = ""

bob-the-builder is running:

        NetBSD bob-the-builder.cirr.com 5.1_RC3 NetBSD 5.1_RC3 (XEN3PAE_DOMU)
#14: Sun Aug 22 11:48:02 CDT 2010
eric%bob-the-builder.cirr.com@localhost:/work/eric/NetBSD-5/obj/i386/sys/arch/i386/compile/XEN3PAE_DOMU
 i386

It's host (atlantis) is running:

        NetBSD atlantis.cirr.com 5.99.44 NetBSD 5.99.44 (XEN3_DOM0) #3: Mon Jan
31 19:49:07 CST 2011
eric%bob-the-builder.cirr.com@localhost:/work/eric/NetBSD-current/obj/amd64/sys/arch/amd64/compile/XEN3_DOM0
 amd64

with

        xentools33-3.3.2nb5
        xenkernel33-3.3.2nb1

(although it's previously run under earlier versions.)
