landisk (Plextor) installation revisited
Hi, all,
I posted something back in October, 2008, when I first tried getting
NetBSD/landisk installed on a Plextor PX-EH25L:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-sh3/2008/10/03/msg000016.html
I didn't have a serial console because the pinouts for the other landisk
machines wasn't the same as the Plextor (the TxD and RxD were reversed),
and now that I have a serial console, I'm getting:
...
NetBSD/landisk ffsv1 Primary Bootstrap
Error: Can't open /boot.
As per my previous post, I ran installboot from an amd64 system with a
directory with the entirety of NetBSD/landisk in /usr/dest-landisk/ by
running:
installboot -m landisk -v /dev/rsd0a /usr/dest-landisk/usr/mdec/bootxx_ffsv1
It seems that landisk requires a stage two booter, so I updated this to:
installboot -m landisk -v /dev/rsd0a /usr/dest-landisk/usr/mdec/bootxx_ffsv1
/boot
Of course, I copied /usr/dest-landisk/usr/mdec/boot to the mounted
filesystem first.
I've tried this several times, and I am now wondering if there's a
difference between the way amd64 creates the filesystem and what
NetBSD/landisk wants or expects.
Is there any limitation to the size of the partition from which /boot
comes? Does anyone else have any ideas?
I was considering using an hpcsh Jornada 690 to do bulk package builds,
but after seeing how slow that is (much slower than an Amiga with half the
clock rate), I decided to revisit my Plextor...
Thanks,
John Klos
