PowerPC 601 and BSD kernels

Hi!

What is the exactly incompatibility problems with the PowerPC 601 family and 
the BSD (OpenBSD, NetBSD, Darwin, OS X) kernels (seems that is the same problem 
with the BeOS?).

I was waiting for years but no one ported the necessary code from Linux kernel 
to BSD kernels to support PowerPC 601 processors...

What make they so "incompatible"?
What is the problem to solve?
Is there any trying in -current or abandonded?
