   Unfortunately, now when I exit X, the console no longer seems to
   recognize keyboard input!

`wsconscfg -k 0' (invoked remotely) fixed that.  It would be nice if
the X server did it for me, but it's not immediately clear to me where
it should do that, or how it should know to do that.
