Hmm, that's a new world G3.
Every single drive I ever threw at my G4 was OF bootable without  
trouble ( apart from occasional master/slave vs. cable select problems )
And every single drive I ever tried in my beige G3 failed at that  
( not surprising either since it's a firmware fsckup )
Might have something to do with the g&w G3's firmware or maybe I just  
lucked out ( and from past experience I'd say both are about equally  
likely )
