#### APROACH #1 - xf86config  #####

The first I feel most comfortable with, since entering the monitor specs seems like a good thing
But I get this...
        <snip>
                 (--) Using wscons driver
                 (WW) xf86EnableIO 3
                 (II) xf86EnableIO: ffffffff
                 (WW) Can't map IO space!
        </snip>
and again...after the ATI Rage seems to load...
         <snip>
               (II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:12:0
(--) Assigning device section with no busID to primary device
               (EE) No devices detected.
        </snip>

Hello again!

I keep coming back to these errors...and it seems to be whenever I use the preconfiguration
for my iMac's built in ATI Rage Pro video card

Or it could be the previous IO warnings...causing "no busID" (seems the most literal interpretation)

but another "snip" shows
        <snip>
               (II) PCI: PCI scan (all values are in hex)
(II) PCI: 00:00:0: chip 1057,0002 card 0000,0000 rev 40 class 06,00,00 hdr 00 (II) PCI: 00:10:0: chip 106b,0017 card 0000,0000 rev 00 class ff,00,00 hdr 00 (II) PCI: 00:12:0: chip 1002,4750 card 0000,0000 rev 5c class 03,00,00 hdr 00 (II) PCI: 00:14:0: chip 11c1,5801 card 11c1,5801 rev 12 class 0c,03,10 hdr 00
       </snip>

Now...having cut my teeth on iMacs...I don't know squat about PCI cards...or buses or anything.
So I'm totally guessing...but it seems that
- the video card is at PCI 00:18:0
- so does the "card 0000 0000" suggest empty slots??

(( I am sooo conufuuussseeeddd! ))

But...where was I ... if I use the preconfigured ATI Pro Rage from the db...eveything stops at
the "Primary Device is: PCI 00:12:0 " error

It seems to be only when I let the configure program load generic values for the video card, that I ever get past this error (i.e. the mouse and keyboard errors were past this point )

I'm thinking that unless I think of something different to try...I'm not going to get any further than
I've gotten.

Does anyone have any suggestions...even about where to try to find informations?! It seems like once your through the NetBSD docs...resources get thin. There's searching the XFree86 forums...but it seems difficult coming up with any real useful information.

I'm definitely feeling a bit buggered :-P

Thanks again!!

Bryan
