You are not the only looking for Java on NetBSD.... it appears to be  
MIA .... but hopefully Landon Fuller (http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/)  
will be able to get something working... He has managed to get Java  
working on FreeBSD(Sparc)... and a non-Apple port for MacOSX as well...

or perhaps someone else will be able to shed some light on this ??
