I see that you (or your helpfull Apple retailer) has run the 4.1.8 =
firmware upgrade on your laptop. Unfortunately this appears to break =
NetBSD on these machines.

The 3 kernels I've tried (netbsd.titanium.gz, and netbsd.ram.gz/netbsd.GENE=
RIC.gz from the 20010323 snapshot) all fail slightly differently early in =
the boot, which iirc they didn't before I flashed my machine.

I'm using ofwboot.elf from 20010323, and what I see is -

netbsd.titanium.gz: ofwboot seems to load the kernel OK, I get a brief =
glimpse of the "number, spinning cursor, number, spinning cursor, number" =
display (I believe this is ofwboot decompressing/loading the text/data/bss =
segments?), and then where I'd expect to see something printed by the =
kernel the screen goes white and nothing else happens.

netbsd.ram.gz: ofwboot loads the kernel OK, screen clears, display reads "=
console keyboard type: ADB" with the cursor at the start of the next line. =
the machine stops here.

netbsd.GENERIC.gz: ofwboot loads the kernel, screen clears, displays same =
as Markus does (different number, but I doubt that's relevant) and stops.

My desktop machine, a G4 (AGP) also has the 4.1.8 firmware update, but =
continues to boot NetBSD fine...

I can't offer to fix this, but if there's anything I can do to help =
troubleshoot i'd be more than happy to. I also have intermittant access to =
factory fresh laptops before they get flashed if that helps.
