Yes, the problem is absolutely a too-old u-boot. As this thread indicates u-boot 2022.04 boots fine with the EFI bootloader, as does 2024.04; 2018.11 and 2019.04 do not and just reset the CPU.
On April 27, it looks like a request was made to update the version of u-boot being used to produce the armbsd images [1]. Currently, the armbsd HEAD image is using u-boot 2022.04 and does boot. However, the armbsd 10.0 image is still using u-boot 2018.11, which does not.
Please update the armbsd build procedure and replace the BBB 10.0 image with one that works, i.e., that uses the same u-boot 2022.04 as being used for the HEAD image.
