I can confirm that 4.5.3 as on NetBSD-current, at least as a cross-compiler
from amd64, does create correct assembler code for my test file from the

I've tested this, too, as a cross-compiler and natively, and it works.
I'll propose a patch to remove arith_adjacentmem on the branch netbsd-5.
