RAM requirments

Hello,

I am having trouble with the NetBSD1.3.2 installation program, It hangs when
It gets the the point where it is supposed to exstract the first set. I am
running an A3000 4MB fast 2MB chip, EGS Spectrum Card, 2.1GB HD, 8UP 8MB 16bit
RAM card, Generic Kernel, Kick 37.175.

I boot netbsd with loadbsd -bpZ netbsd (wich ignores the 16bit RAM on the
card, and loads to chipmem first) this is the only way it will start with the
RAM card installed.

so i have 4MB RAM, subtract 2 for the EGS Card and that leaves so little ram
that its inpredictable what is causing my hang? I am about to get ZIP chips so
that i can put a full 16MB on the motherboard and remove the RAM card, I just
want to make sure that it will solve my problem. (not that more memory is not
worth getting anyway)

I have installed netbsd1.3.2 succesfully when i disected the install script
and extracted the sets manually (which never did hang) I found out that later
in the script (when it creates the devices: sh MAKEDEV all) so these two
operations really take up the RAM? They do work without a hitch when I use the
commands seperatly.

Hope this is enough for some other thoughts.

Ben Bogart
