No, the problem still persists.

It seems it does not persist on other NetBSD platforms (i386)
as the NetBSD utility source tree seems to use the same makefiles
(I cannot verify this) it should be ruled out
that libcurses.so.* is *not* prelinked with libtermcap.so.*

However, this could be the problem.
an other, and perhaps platform dependend case is that the m68k
linker is screwed up and fails on several levels of indirection,
I'll try it this weekend.

the third possibilty could by that while building the Amiga binaries
something weird happened (black magic) and somehow the link was 
ommitted: the i386 maintainer could have notices it and linked
by hand.

These assumptions are pure speculation and are based on my own expirience,
not with contacting e.g. i386, sparc, etc maintainers...

the manual pages for ld also tells about:
        `Shared objects are not properly checked for undefined symbols'
and
        `Cascading of shared object defeats the ``-Bstatic'' option.'
