Bounty for resolving NetBSD java/gradle issue (PR 56140)

It looks like an underlying issue with OpenJDK8/11 on NetBSD, but unfortunately I don't have time to look into it :/

However, on the offchance that other people might also be interested in a fix, I've started a bountysource for it (only $250 so far)
