Wanted: little tool to inject emails into IMAP folder

Speaking of IMAP, I am looking for a reliable tool to deliver emails
into an IMAP folder. Obviously I have the credentials for the folder.

IMAP has a command for this ("APPEND") but I wonder if there is a small
mail delivery tool for this. One that reliably returns the right sort of
error to postfix if something fails.

I have cobbled together something in python using the mail/py-imapclient
library, but I'm somewhat worried about large messages that may cause
time outs or memory exhaustion or annoying conditions like that.

The context is that currently I am forwarding mails for my family to
another email provider, but there they get another spam check and a lot
of delay, and modern "anti spam" checks break forwarding in general.

Any ideas?
