pkgin carnage
I decided to install the binaries for the R statistical package in pkgsrc
using pkgin. Not only did that installation fail (which I
expected at first attempt) but an unknown large number of packages
have been wiped from the system (NetBSD9.2 amd64), many of which will
be used in scripts used for everything from backups to tax returns. I
no longer have a working browser, when I had three (firefox60,
arcticfox, palemoon), samba no longer works (critical for file access
on Windows) and God only knows what else.
Can anyone suggest a strategy for rebuilding, and avoiding another
such massive impact? I don't even have a list of what's been wiped,
and probably face weeks of urgent fixing when somethig fails
unexpectedly.
