It's not supported but it might work.  If you have any packages that 
were superseded upgrades then the chances are significantly lower.

Basically you get to keep both pieces if it breaks.  I'd strongly 
recommend just using standard tools instead e.g. tar up your prefix and 
pkgdb as a backup.
