There is a culture of retrocomputing with ancient macOS.Yes, often on PowerPC. I sort of draw the line at 10.13 being new enough, and 10.11 so old that it's hard to imagine a machine that works and is useful. Do they mean 10.13, 11, 12, 13, or 10.5?Probably 10.5-ish.
Too bad the upstream dropped support for Darwin/macppc. As PPC macs get older and older the PPC codegen kept bitrotting. When I had a working PPC machine I fixed the backend many times, and the upstream had no hesitance to accept my patches. However, I was the only one that were willing to maintain GHC's PPC support, and when my 20-years-old PowerMac G5 finally stopped booting there was literally no one left.
Thank you wiz@ for moving it to wip. Keeping and maintaining GHC 7 in the main pkgsrc tree costs a real effort and time, and I really cannot spend my time for that.
