I know nothing about the zig build system, but it looks like cmake is
just a driver and it has its own build system underneath, just from
the error messages we see in the install error.

Also, a quick diff of the 0.11 and 0.12 tarballs shows that even the
toplevel CMakeLists.txt file has more than 50 chunks of changes...

Perhaps it's time for an upstream bug report.
