'a2ps' won't duplex-print PostScript input

As of pkgsrc-2023Q1 "print/a2ps" (v4.15.*) will not duplex-print
PostScript input. It will do all the other "N-up" options, but
always prints only simplex.

It will, however, duplex-print plain text files.

Searching for other instances of this only turns up CUPS-related mis-
interactions (PPD for printer forcing simplex printing even if printer
is capable of duplex). This is not helpful for diagnosing the problem
as CUPS is not used on my systems.

Anyone else using 'a2ps' on NetBSD (with good ol' lpr/lpd) seeing this?
Found a workaround?

The various 'ps?*' utility manual pages (as 'a2ps' delegates to them)
are sufficiently opaque that I've not been able to derive any help
from them.

Admittedly, this belongs on some 'a2ps' forum someplace, but I figured
I'd ask here first.
