From my viewpoint, the really big deal is that if there are issues, the package is just more or less skipped, rather than causing the entire run to fail. In wip, I adjusted three groups of packages foo-* to point to ../../wip/foo-bar instead of ./../category/foo-bar where category is where it will go when imported. BUt for now, that's a dangling reference Those problems were I think causing fatal errors.
