nvi/db4/Linux "page sizes must be a power-of-2"

$ uname -a
Linux e130 4.9.0-12-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.210-1 (2020-01-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux

pkgsrc = current

nvi = Version nvi-1.81.6nb5 (2009-08-11) The CSRG, University of
California, Berkeley.

Weird warning when opening a large-ish file:

$ ls -lh  openbsd-tips-wip
-rw-r--r-- 1 oc oc 31K Jun 19 08:37 openbsd-tips-wip

$ nvi openbsd-tips-wip
page sizes must be a power-of-2

This flashes up for a second and then the file will open as usual.

Googling around, it seems the error comes from db4, but I have no idea
how to debug it.

The very same file works fine on NetBSD using nvi from base. Haven't
tried installing nvi from pkgsrc on NetBSD yet.

Any ideas?
