Problem building apcupsd

Getting this on NetBSD 8 & 9 amd64:

HidUps.cpp:(.text+0x35): undefined reference to `usb_release_interface'
HidUps.cpp:(.text+0x3d): undefined reference to `usb_reset'
HidUps.cpp:(.text+0x45): undefined reference to `usb_close'

And lots of other usb_xxx functions undefined. libusb-compat-0.1.7 is 
installed and manually extracting the package seems to show that these 
functions are exported from the library.

Last build I did a week ago of this config worked.
