Yes, agree. As I posted later, binary is an excellent option for branch
users and as you add also for those who want to build some parts from
sources.

It is often difficult to confine to quarterly branches, though, for many
users.

What do you think about feasibility of tools on the lines suggested in
my last post that allow seamless mix of pkgsrc and binary, without
compromising correctness as well as retaining flexibility.

Availability of separate metadata of a package (without having to download
package) may help (which I think pkgin might be having).
