I've added an updated fuse-encfs to pkgsrc-wip. could you try out if it
works for real use? I've only built tested it.
You can build it as follows:

cd /usr/pkgsrc
git clone --depth 1 git://wip.pkgsrc.org/pkgsrc-wip.git wip
cd wip/fuse-encfs

I'm also specifically interested if it properly handles a large file
(doesn't truncate), say 5GB.

If you say it works, I will update it in pkgsrc, too.
