The Curse Of NetBSD aka when a stable system bites you
Simple story really.
If it wasn't me.
follow release branches on the system, updating daily to -current thing of past
use quarterlies on pkgsrc, no time to fix stuff when it breaks
rebooting only when unavoidable
update pkgsrc, spend some days compiling what I need
backup all packages, install new packages
test system, feels fine
weeks later, delete backup
weeks later, shutdown laptop, pack in, go on trip.
During trip, realize X won't work (no screens found).
"Welcome to pkgsrc-2013Q2, you damn intel gfx card using scum."
