Re: How to install and find things in nonstandard locations?

Question is how to install to such a directory prefix, and subsequently when I
need to subsequently link to these packages' libs and includes, how to make the
compiler and linker, and programs run therefrom, such as sed and grep, find
these libs and includes.
It is depend on softwares what you are trying to build.
Tell it to configure script or Makefile as arguments or environment variables,
or edit Makefile by hand, or so on.
For pkgsrc, you can select anywhere as installation prefix,
so the matter happens all the time and works well.
