Do you have the libgcrypt-1.2.3 package installed?  It broke firefox-1.5.0.6
for me in the way you describe because it used /dev/random instead
of /dev/urandom.  libgcrypt-1.2.3nb1 fixes this.

        Perfick - my firefox is once more a (relatively) fast starter...
