I also have an HP printer and I have _never_ been able to get cups to
work with it. My only workable solution has been to use my other
machine (an Acer laptop running windows-10) as a print server. I ftp
files to the laptop and then print from there.
FWIW, it's HP Ink Advantage 2545, and connected ONLY via WiFi.
For me, cups is simply a nuisance package.
