However, on NetBSD-current (the only system where this applies), the default is to use openssl from the base system, so I'm not sure if we there is much point in handling that case?
I use PREFER_PKGSRC=yes everywhere, including NetBSD-current (though my OS_VERSION won't trigger this anyway, right now). I prefer to broadly get the benefits of Pkgsrc even for libraries in the base system.
But I don't know if I'm alone in the world in that :)
