building print/xetex reliably fails on NetBSD 5.1 Sparc64 with this:

gmake[3]: Leaving directory
/usr/pkg/bin/gmake[2]: Making `all' in `data'
gmake[3]: Entering directory
../bin/icupkg -tb
udata_swapDataHeader(): header size mismatch - headerSize 32768 infoSize 5120
length 1024
gmake[3]: *** [out/icudt49b.dat] Error 8

googling suggests that this is actually an upstream error in their
OS detection logic, but I couldn't find an "easy" way to make it work
pkgsrc from CVS, updated yesterday (2013-04-11).

        netbsd-sparc64$ cd /usr/pkgsrc/print/xetex ; make
