 xqilla was a successor for libpathan, not xalan-c.
 
 I don't think any explanation or discussion of the removal of xalan-c
 ever appeared, other than it was (perhaps>) failing in (some?) bulk
 builds.
 
 That said, it was nearly two years ago...
