For a test I mount_smbfs'ed a share from the WinServer and shared it rig=

back with Samba. Windows Explorer showed the same distorted characters a=

MidnightCommander (via puTTY). I trust MC to display characters correctl=
y.

I also tried several combinations of character sets as argument to the -=
E  =

option, all with the same unsatisfactory results.

I'm afraid it's a problem with mount_smbfs.

Can anybody provide reliable information, whether character encoding is =
 =

functional in mount_smbfs?
