Re: port-amd64/60242 (OS defaults in AMD-64 unusable)

Synopsis: OS defaults in AMD-64 unusable

State-Changed-Why:
I'm having trouble understanding the symptom, or how to reproduce it.

I tried starting /usr/X11R7/bin/xterm and sshing into a Debian 12
system. On both the local side and the remote side, I observed with
`echo $TERM' that TERM=xterm.

I tried pasting text with multiple lines, both short and long, using
middle-click. The short lines were:

echo hello
echo world

The long lines were the same, but with `hello' and `world' repeated 300
times separated by spaces.

I tried pasting into:

- emacs -nw
- cat
- the same, under tmux

In all cases, the paste came through just fine.

Can you please provide more specific steps to reproduce, and a more
specific description of the symptom you observe?

In particular, can you please provide a transcript of:

1. what you typed,
2. what you saw (perhaps you can use script(1) to record it), and
3. what you expected to see (perhaps you can use script(1) to record
the same on OpenBSD so we can compare the differences)?

Other information that might be relevant:
- output of `stty -a' locally and remotely
- output of `echo $TERM' locally and remotely
- output of `locale'
- the keys you mention remapping, if any
- the content of your ~/.Xdefaults and/or ~/.Xresources, if any
