I’m pretty sure that flag worked with Xcode-bundled GCCs, as well.

But, yes, this doesn’t really make the situation any worse, and it’s pretty lame to just leave it totally broken for people hosting on recent versions of macOS (and by “recent”, I mean anything at ~3 years old and newer).
