 I did: An actual -current kernel with DRMKMS runs quite flawlessly on
 my above mentioned machine, but has some (re-)draw-problems, e. g.
 when moving a window the background is not always replaced correctly.
 But no severe problems.
 
 Another problem was the firmware location (/usr is a separate partion
 in my case /on my machine not mounted early enough). So I copied the
 /usr/libdata/firmware/radeon folder over into /libdata/firmware where
 it is present / found at early boot-time (any official recommendation
 / solution?).
 
 So, the real problem is solved for me, you can close the pr.
