System: NetBSD
Architecture: i386
Machine: i386
>Description:

When booting from NetBSD-current installation media, the following
message is printed:

  WARNING: couldn't open ffs (//ffs/ffs.kmod)
WARNING: 1 module failed to load

The system (usually) installs normally despite the warning. However,
if booting the install kernel fails for some unrelated reason, this
ominous-looking message is likely to lead the user trying to debug the
failure down the path of thinking it is module related, causing wasted
effort and reducing the chances of finding the actual problem. I have
seen that happen at least three times now.

>How-To-Repeat:

Boot -current install media. See the message.

>Fix:

Please eliminate the message.
