>Description:

As the title says: HP Compaq NC4400 does not generate any ACPI events.
Otherwise the system is stable, and the laptop is even able to
suspend/resume.

Not a single ACPI-related error message is printed to the console, despite
of having enabled every relevant ACPI-debug option I could find.
PCI_INTR_FIXUP does not make a difference.

So far I have diagnosed that dysfunctional parts include everything that
uses AcpiOsExecute(). Including a simple counter in 'sysmon_taskq.c' shows
that new tasks are being scheduled for execution in
'sysmon_task_queue_sched()', but the actual execution never happens in
'sysmon_task_queue_thread()'. Within ten minutes there are about 500 tasks
in the queue.

So it would appear that ACPI EC is the culprit. However, SCI interrupts are
being generated by the firmware. Each invoked ACPI event (AC, lid, power
button, etc.) does increase the counter of 'ioapic0 pin 9' when observed via
vmstat(1). The EC code is quite involved, but as far as I can tell from
simple printf-debugging, it seems to be working. Including a printf for each
step in the state machine and unplugging the AC:

acpiec0: EC_STATE_QUERY
acpiec0: EC_STATE_QUERY_VAL
acpiec0: EC_STATE_FREE (SCI was 'true')
sysmon_task_queue_sched: inserted function (pri 3, count 642)
acpiec0: evaluated _Q06 succesfully
acpiec0: EC_STATE_QUERY
acpiec0: EC_STATE_QUERY_VAL
acpiec0: EC_STATE_FREE (SCI was 'true')
sysmon_task_queue_sched: inserted function (pri 3, count 643)
acpiec0: evaluated _Q09 succesfully
. . .

I am unable to verify whether this is AMD64-specific, but I will try i386
later if the issue can not be resolved. ACPI is confirmed to work on Linux.

Any pointers to further debugging paths would be welcomed.
