 Next time I'll first read the man page for a function I don't know.  I
 see I have to boot with -x to actually see the output of that aprint()
 call.  That seems to be easier with i386 than macppc (I've never passed
 parameters to the bootloader on the latter), so I've switched to test
 on i386.  I'm seeing the same problem there, I'll follow up if I have
 anything useful to report.
