I tried to rip out Helvetica as a first option ont he netbsd websites - the Helvetica font that comes with Xorg is a bitmap one and looks horrendous. After this jakllsch explained how to avoid matching bitmap fonts entirely, and this is now the default in -current and hopefully -8.
