I think it would be great if you could clean this up and let it Do The
Right Thing.  The main problem with the XMLization right now is that the
majority of the people who need to work on it are not familiar with it
in much detail and pretty much hack along as they go.

If you could not only correct the problems but also add some general xml
instructions for developers in htdocs/developers/ that would be really
helpful.
