Unless you are trying it out under Linux, maybe FreeBSD with an Intel
GPU, don't bother.

The current plan of the Xorg people is to move a lot of functionality
into the Linux kernel, Wayland is a userspace system that sits on top
of this.

All applications will need to be rewritten to use it properly. There
is planned to be a way of running existing X11 applications with it.
