Ok. I might try that. Is there any documentation about this driver?

BTW, the display refresh rate cannot be the problem. I successfully ran the
"vesa" driver in 1024x768x16 at 85(!) Hz yesterday, and got a nice picture!

So it really looks like the i810 driver doesn't work with 915GM. Could it be
some kind of new Digital Rights Management hardware, which only allows VESA
for anybody else than Microsoft? ;)
